Sounds of China 03/22/08 Playlist

The first hour of today's show was an interview by DJ Wen Zhou with John Thompson and Festivitas Artium Schola. Thompson is a pioneer in transcribing guqin music into modern notation. FA Schola is an Estonian ensemble that specializes in medieval and ancient Asian instruments.

The second hour was a re-broadcast of a concert that took place December 8th, 2007 at Columbia University. This concert, dubbed "Music From the Time of Marco Polo," features in the first part John Thompson and FA Schola, and in the second part, Zhang Hong Yan, a noted pipa player from China.
